A trek covering the entire Annapurna massif, Annapurna Circuit Trek is regarded as one of the best trekking trails in the World. Following Marsyangdi valley in the north & passing through Kaligandaki Gorge, this trek takes you to some of the world-famous ancient villages of Nepal like Marpha, Manang, Kagbeni, etc. Popular among trekking enthusiasts, this trek is full of picturesque villages, subtropical forests, paddy fields & high mountain passes which have never failed to impress visitors. Flaunting its rich diverse scenery & gigantic range of Annapurna Himalayas, you get to see majestic views of mountains like; Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m) & Mt. Tilicho (7134m), etc during this trek. Another main highlight of the trek is Thorong La pass (5415 m) & Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage carrying a deep religious value for both Buddhists & Hindus. Embark on a journey to discover a different aspect of culture & nature as you encounter & experience the traditional lifestyle in the Himalayas of Nepal. 

Itinerary

Day 1:  Drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule (845m), (7-8 hrs drive)

Our first day of Annapurna Circuit Trek starts after an early morning breakfast followed by a bus ride to Bhulbhule. Our 6-7 hour ride leaves the busy Kathmandu valley and goes along the picturesque Trishuli river to Pokhara and heads north to Besisahar and finally stops at Bhulbhule. Throughout this drive, we get to observe scenery of terrace farms, beautiful village settlements, snowy mountain peaks, green hills, lush forests and fast-flowing rivers. Overnight stay at a lodge in Bhulbhule.

Day 2: Trek from Bhulbhule to Jagat (1300m), (5-6 hrs of walk)

After a delicious breakfast in Bhulbhule, we start our trek towards a peaceful village called Jagat. As we follow the route, we come across beautiful terraced fields, jungles, Marsyangdi river, village settlements, suspension bridges and farmlands. We trek for nearly 5 comfortable hours and arrive at Jagat where we will stop for the day. Overnight stay at a lodge in Jagat.

Day 3: Trek Jagat to Dharapani (1860m), (5-6 hrs of walk)

We begin our third day after breakfast at Jagat village. We trek along the Marsyangdi river and after a steep climb, we reach a village named Tal in the Manang region. Then we continue to walk through the valley crossing different suspension bridges, potato, barley and rice fields, waterfalls and pass through the village of Kodo. After a short walk from Kani, we reach Dharapani. We get to see landscapes and culture as we move forward which is quite unique and interesting. Overnight stay at a lodge in Dharapani.

Day 4: Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2610m), (5-6 hrs of walk)

Today after our breakfast at Dharapani, we march towards the headquarter of Manang district, Chame village. We pass through beautiful small settlements, fir and pine forests and ascend forward Manang valley while looking at the terrific views of mountains like Manaslu and Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and Lamjung Himal. After reaching Chame village you can explore this village as they have facilities like internet cafes, banks, souvenirs shops and other shopping places. Overnight stay at a lodge in Chame.

Day 5: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3115m), (5-6 hrs of walk)

Today we walk along the trail which takes us to Pisang village of Manang. We start our trek after morning breakfast at Chame and walk through a steep and narrow village where we sight our first massive wall of rock, Danda rock face which is also considered sacred by the local people. Today also we see mesmerizing views of Annapurna II, Manaslu Himal, Chulu, Lamjung Himal and Pisang peak while trekking to Pisang. On the way, we can also visit the apple farm for some tasty apples during the season. After reaching Pisang, we can hike up to the monastery in upper Pisang. Overnight stay at a lodge in Pisang.

Day 6: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3519m), (6-7 hrs of walk)

After breakfast at Pisang, we march towards Manang village which has quite large settlements. We walk towards the upper part of Manang district which is dry, cold and harsh. We pass Humde, Humde Airport, Mungji and Bragha villages after trekking through beautiful hills, jungles and wetlands to finally reach Manang. We get to see different monasteries and Buddhist shrines along our way to Manang village. Overnight stay at a lodge in Manang.

Day 7: Rest and acclimatization day at Manang (3519m)

Today is our acclimatization day in Manang. We rest and adjust our bodies with thin air and higher altitude. We spend our day exploring Manang and hiking to places like Gangapurna Glacial Lake, Khangsar, Praken Gomba and Milarepa cave while admiring views of Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak, Gangapurna Peak and Annapurna III. Interaction with locals and visits to local bakeries is recommended. We can also spend our evening by visiting the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vajra village where we can learn about mountain sickness, its symptoms and preventions. Visit the various shops and souvenir places as this is the last settlement with this kind of facility in Manang. Overnight stay at a lodge in Manang. Optional: You can extend this trek with the Tilicho Lake Trek which only takes 2-3 extra days.

Day 8: Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4018m), (3-4 hrs of walk)

Today after breakfast at Manang village, we trek towards the peaceful meadow known as Yak Kharkha. We pass through a land filled with juniper bushes and pastures and cross villages like Tenki Manang and Gunsan. We see houses made of flat mud roofs, yaks, horses, bridges and small rivers and mountain views of Annapurna, Tilicho and Gangapurna on our way to Yak Kharka. Overnight stay at a lodge in Yak Kharka.

Day 9: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4525m), (4-5 hrs of walk)

We start our day after breakfast at Yak Kharka and walk towards today’s destination, Thorong Phedi, the foot of Thorong La Pass. We cross the river and walk uphill towards Thorong Phedi through uninhabited and rugged terrain which seems astonishing and different. It is important that we walk slowly and steadily and keep drinking warm liquids. We reach Thorong Phedi in the afternoon and spend the rest time relaxing and preparing for our big day. Overnight stay at a lodge in Thorung Phedi.

Day 10: Trek from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3760m) via Thorung La High Pass (5416m), (8-9 hrs of walk)

Today is a long and important day for us as we cross Thorong La Pass, one of the highest passes in the world. We start with a quick breakfast and head towards Thorung La Pass early in the morning. It’s more challenging because of the high altitude, thin and chilly air. But once we reach the pass it’s going to be totally worth every single step and breathe. We get to see a panorama of majestic snow-capped peaks like Annapurna, Yakwakang, Nilgiri, Thorung Peak along with Dhaulagiri Range while Thorong Pass sits surrounded by chorten, prayer flags and a congratulation board. After spending some time at this majestic place, we make our way towards Muktinath which is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. We descend for nearly 3-4 hours and stop at this beautiful Muktinath village, also known as the “district behind Himalaya”. Overnight stay at a lodge in Muktinath.

Day 11: Drive from Muktinath to Jomson and Tatopani (1200m), (6-7 hrs drive)

This morning we visit Muktinath temple and offer our prayers and observe the surroundings before heading towards Tatopani. We give our feet rest today as we travel to Tatopani via a vehicle. We enjoy our ride by looking at all the exciting landscapes and forests along the way. Tatopani is a place for a natural hot spring. We take a bath and relieve the pain and stress in our muscles and prepare ourselves for a Poonhill hike. Overnight stay at a lodge in Tatopani.

Day 12: Trek from Tatopani to Ghorepani (2860m), (7-8 hrs of walk)

From Tatopani, we start our trek towards the beautiful Ghorepani after breakfast. We cross different ethnic villages like Sikha, Ghara, Gharkhola and Chitre before arriving at Ghorepani. Today we get to see beautiful lush forests, farmlands, rhododendrons and magnolias along with views of Himalayan ranges making our trek peaceful and calm throughout the way. Ghorepani is a beautiful village of Gurung and Magars and they have a unique tradition, culture and cuisine which can be quite interesting for us. Overnight stay at a lodge in Ghorepani. Note: You can extend one day by staying at a beautiful village called Sikha and then hike to Ghorepani next day.

Day 13: Trek from Ghorepani to Poonhill (3210m) and back to Pokhara (820m), (5-6 hrs of walk), (2 hrs drive)

Our final day of trek starts with a delicious traditional breakfast at Ghorepani village. We then ascend to Poonhill early enough to catch a breathtaking sunrise over 12 majestic Himalayas such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and other surrounding rice terrains and nearby villages. After enjoying the mesmerizing sunrise at Poonhill, we trek down to Ghorepani and then to Nayapul. From Nayapul, we drive back to Pokhara which takes around 2 hours. Nightlife in Pokhara is quite famous and the streets are full of interesting spots. Enjoy your evening at Pokhara lakeside and streets and forget about muscle pain and body pain for a while. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 14: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1400m), (6-7 hrs)

After breakfast at our hotel in Pokhara, we drive back to Kathmandu valley alongside Marshyangdi and Trishuli river banks after successfully completing our 13 days trek to Annapurna Circuit. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You are free to explore other nearby and surrounding places and relax peacefully. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu. Optional: You can choose to take a 30 min flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu instead of a drive.
